Android Person in an Apple World

I am most definitely an Android person in an Apple world. I have a Samsung phone and I'm not ever thinking about changing. As a teacher, I am constantly learning and am needing to be flexible with different technology. Here are about a total of 2 days worth of my adventures with the iPad:

  •  Principal gave teachers new iPads with fancy new Otterbox cases
  • Otterbox cases do not fit iPads they were made for
  • Teachers have sore fingers because of trying to get them to work
  • Principal sends cases back and gets better ones
  • We take iPads home to finish uploading all the "cool new apps"
  • iPads will not load at home for anyone
  • GroupMe message with teachers on finding out how to make this work
  • Principal worried
  • I have figured out that turning an iPad off and then on again makes it work
  • I message the others
  • Principal relieved
  • I learn that I NEED a back button on my technology
  • ClassDojo app is downloaded to iPad
  • Dojo app works at home, perfectly
  • Dojo app stops working when I get to school
  • I cannot throw the iPad when it frustrates me, it would be a bad idea
  • I turn the iPad off and then back on (while at school) No luck
  • I ask another teacher if her Dojo app works on her iPad
  • It does
  • Reminds self I cannot throw iPad across the hall
  • I find out that Apple apps that need to be updated do not have a "update when available" option
  • I turn off the "update" feature on my Dojo app
  • Dojo Works at school now
  • I needed ice cream, but still had kiddos to teach reading strategies to
  • 2 hours left until ice cream
  • Kids know more about technology than I ever will
  • Kiddos are now full of the reading strategy I taught and can now teach it to their parents
  • 1 hour until ice cream
  • Kiddos are getting picked up
  • Kiddos have left
  • 30 minutes until ice cream
  • Make a mental note to take iPad home to update all that needs to be updated
  • Head back to classroom to pack up
  • Kiddo leaves glasses in classroom and must run back to get them
  • Kiddo surprises me because it is way past time for kiddo to be gone
  • Kiddo doesn't find them and runs away
  • I pass by them and have to run to give them back to him
  • Running is hard work
  • 30 minutes are up and still no ice cream
  • Finally on way home
  • Remembered I forgot iPad in my classroom
  • Turn back and go get iPad
  • Go home
  • Get ice cream
  • Forget charger to iPad
  • iPad won't update because it is dead
